My daughter just noticed something:
Holes in my undershirt (around the armpits).
Haha – good thing we were at home.
But this wasn’t some ordinary undershirt
(Otherwise, I would’ve discarded it long ago)
It was an item I loved to use…
…for over five years.
That’s longer than:
- Your time spent in high school
- A U.S. President’s single term
- The break between Game of Thrones seasons 7 and 8 (not really, but it feels like it) *sigh*
Yep – there are clothing products with that kind of lifespan.
From quality brands.
Good companies that can make you feel like a million bucks
(Even with a single shirt or belt).
I can name 5 brands I’ve owned for 5+ years.
Keep reading to find out what they are and why I’m loyal to them.

Brand #1 – Sharp & Dapper
I love this company because they offer a permanent – literally permanent – way of solving the common problem of shirts going untucked.
It’s something all of us men who work in an office or wear a required uniform have to deal with. And Sharp & Dapper makes it a non-issue with their innovative shirt stays.
Back when I first met Johan (the company’s founder and director) he actually sent me samples of the shirt stays to try on. Not only did they work the way they were supposed to. They felt great as well!
Johan’s products comprise elastic straps that connect the bottom tips of your dress shirt to your socks. You can count on them to last all day without snapping. The reason for that is they’re made with a combination of both solid metal and rubber-like material – providing ample flexibility.
Their quality is even better than the shirttail garters I’d worn in the Marines. Now the company’s grown and expanded their product line with braces, suspenders, neckties, and other accessories. Check out their website…and you’ll see how sharp and dapper all those items are.
Brand #2 – Paul Evans
It’s interesting how the two guys who built this brand didn’t start out in the shoe industry. They worked in banking and consulting over in the East Coast.
But they were inspired by the success of many entrepreneurs – and got to notice a hole in the market. Then came an idea…and later an opportunity. The rest is history.
I’ve worked with Paul Evans for RMRS since the beginning. It’s always been a pleasure to endorse them. I was sent shoes initially in exchange for setting up affiliate links. But now I’ve got 11 pairs for myself.
The first time I researched on their reputation and reviews, I couldn’t find negative feedback about them. That’s due to their consistently good customer service…to this day.
Some of their best dress shoes I’d recommend include:
- Poitier Double Monk Strap – My go-to shoes (you might’ve seen me wear them a few times)
- Grant Oxford – Classic Oxford shoes that will work well with most styles or outfits
- Stewart Penny Loafer – Versatile loafers which are easy to slip on or off
By the way, the company has recently increased their prices but with good reason. I’m told that they’ve improved the overall quality – from the leather used to the build – of their shoes. But know that you can still avail of their entry-level shoes for 60% the price of the main collection (although these are made with rubber soles and have an older construction level).
I’ve also got a $100 discount code which you can use for a one-time purchase at their website. The code is RMRS100 (and you can Click HERE to buy any Paul Evans shoes or products).
Brand #3 – Anson Belt & Buckle
What do I love just as much as “stylish” companies? It’s the companies that make life more convenient for stylish men. And that’s exactly what Anson achieves.
This brand was founded by David and Frank, a father-and-son duo based in South Carolina. They innovated and perfected their own hole-less belt system – which applies micro-adjusting technology to belts to give you a more accurate fit.
How accurate? By every quarter-inch to be exact. So you can imagine how awesome it’d be to wear belts all the time without feeling a bit “tight” or “loose” because of the limited holes! And don’t worry about these hole-less belts malfunctioning. Anson will be happy to replace anything that turns out to have a problem.
I also love the fact that their belts and buckles are interchangeable. You can actually buy 3 different belts and 3 different buckles in a set – which means a total of 9 combinations to match different outfits. And they’re all made of high-quality material and reasonably priced.
Brand #4 – RibbedTee
I’ve known Mikel Schwarz (who runs RibbedTee) since 2008. He was interested in working with me. And like most people I’d be doing business with, he gave me some samples.
I didn’t receive anything flashy or wow-looking – they were a couple of plain undershirts. But little did I know how these undershirts would become the only ones I’d ever want to wear. Seriously.
You’ve got to wear it to believe it. And feel the fit, the comfort, the lack of sweat spots – to understand. As soon as I found those out…I couldn’t help but reach for a RibbedTee undershirt to start almost every day with. The V-neck ones worked perfectly under my dress shirt.
And what’s funny is I just found out that one of my RibbedTees has holes in the armpit areas – plus the outdated version of the RibbedTee tag. So it’s really been a good number of years using that same undershirt and loving it!
Here’s a video guide on buying RibbedTee undershirts. Don’t be alarmed by their price (about 3X the value of a regular undershirt). These undershirts are designed to be tough and durable while getting softer over time. You won’t have to trash them after 5-6 months like others!
Brand #5 – Leather Honey
I’m a big fan of this American family business. Their products serve other precious products you own – leather ones. And that saves you money in the long run.
By interviewing Shawn McGowen (grandson of the original founder Daniel McGowen who created the formula) I learned how Leather Honey was initially tested on a local mailman’s leather shoes.
Those shoes would go on to survive a number for years (remember they were used by a man who’d walk miles and miles on a daily basis) instead of months!
I was naturally inclined to try it myself. I applied it on old leather shoes with minor cracks. And although the product didn’t transform those shoes into a sparkly new pair – it made the leather very supple. They became quite rejuvenated.
So if I say that Leather Honey is the hands down the best leather conditioner I’ve ever used…I’m not lying. It’ll best maintain your recently bought dress shoes, belts, leather bags or even leather car seats. The substance itself lasts 4X as long as others – which means you’ll be wasting less time and energy when it comes to taking care of your leathers.
Honorable Mention: Pete & Pedro
I haven’t yet used Pete & Pedro for a full 5 years (technically 4.5) but I can’t pass on giving them a shout-out. Aaron Marino is a good friend of mine – and I can name a few products that I dearly love
- Pete & Pedro Putty – It’s similar to clay or mud, providing a firm and flexible hold on one’s hair with a matte (low shine) finish.
- Pete & Pedro Paste – It has a wax-like consistency that makes it easy to distribute through your hair, adding more texture and increasing the definition.
- Pete & Pedro Clay – It adds value and provides the strongest hold once settled into the hair (much more effective on thin hair and a shorter hairstyle).
And thanks to Aaron, you can now Click HERE to buy 2 Pete & Pedro products and get one additional for free! So this is another great deal to grab hold of.
